Wealth of Wisdom

What does Katutura mean, should one wonder. Katutura is an old location in Windhoek, Namibia. During the colonial era, people were taken from their habitat, which they called: "The Old Location" that is known today as Pionierspark, and were relocated according to their languages, tribes, etc. Blacks were not allowed to use alcohol or to buy white bread in shops, let alone buy in shops where whites are shopping. They were not allowed to visit each other till late. They had to have passports in order to be recognized as citizens or else, they would go to jail or treated as foreigners or intruders. So, there were Herero location, Vambo location, Nama location and Gemengte which means: mixed. These were the locations for black people of South West Africa/Namibia. The colored people (Basters) were treated better and they lived in Khomasdal. The white people lived in town; and in all the beautiful locations of Namibia, for example: Pionierspark, Academia, Eros, Klein Windhoek...
